ABOUT SHAPE

PHOTOGRAPHERS FOR CONSERVATION

The idea:

  • to promote Nature conservation through high quality & high aesthetical photos in cooperation with the major local conservation trusts, to help the organisations in their educational projects and in local and global environmental politics.

  • to explore new ways of combining nature photography and other forms of art. Images and other visualisations form powerful instruments. They show, they are emotive.

  • the photographers are present on location through short intensive photographic fieldwork actions, to give evidence of the high value of the natural habitat and of specific nature aspects in the region. To minimize the costs of the trip the finishing and selecting of the raw material will be done afterwards.

The idea is born on the Caribbean island Bonaire and the first project, on Bonaire, could be realised quite fast thanks to a good cooperation between the initiators and several nature conservation organisations on the island. The intention is to realize similar projects on other islands.

Our international group of 5 nature photographers, specialized in different disciplines, was formed easily. The idea of the project correspond to our personal goals as photographers in nature preservation. We hope strongly that beautiful photos make people sensitive to nature conservation.
